About
herself, Judith says “I am a single parent looking after 2 children. I
have very little time for hobbies, but enjoy reading, jigsaws, and
puzzle books. I also go swimming for exercise!”
“In terms of the Church, my concern is that churches discover their
'niche' and present a relevant face to the contemporary world. We need
to be a caring, forward-looking place.”
Service Times
Normally there is one service a week at 10.30am on Sunday morning,
although there are additional services at special times of the year
such as Easter and Christmas.
Style of Worship
At Grenoside Methodist Church we treasure our Methodist heritage but
are not afraid to try new things. So, a typical morning service will
include hymn singing (traditional and ‘modern’), prayers, Bible
readings, and a sermon or address.
The service is led at least once a month by the minister and
at other times by other accredited preachers. The choir
usually sings a short opening song. Members of the congregation often read from the Bible.
The children and young people have a special place in our church, and
we try to include them in the first part of our service; then they get
stuck in to separate activities.
Once every six weeks or so the worship is a Service of Holy Communion,
and occasionally there is a baptism. From time to time the children
and young people and their leaders take responsibility for arranging
special services.
You are very welcome to
come on Sunday morning and join with our worship.
